Meet at the city docks (behind Tow Head Island next to the police station)

Arrive between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM – Mandatory safety briefing held at 10:30 AM

We will travel down the river to go through the locks and will raft-up for lunch/refreshments. After enjoying the company and river time, we will make the trip back through the locks. Depending on weather and river traffic, we will plan on returning to the city docks between 3 and 4 PM.

• Contact Kim Fisher to let him know if you are bringing a boat or
  to make reservations for a seat on one of the participating boats.
  • If you need assistance, we can provide an experienced hand to ride along and help you through the locking process.  See the list of Recommended Items following these Details.
  • If you don’t have a boat or just want to ride along, there will be boats with space for you to ride – be sure to reserve a spot so we can make sure we have enough boats and life jackets for everyone.
• Bring a picnic lunch and drinks for you (and your guests) for the raft-up time on the other side of the locks.
• Bring/wear a swim suit if you want to get into the water while we raft-up.

Lock Through – Recommended Items

• 2 Lines at least 1 ½ times the length of your boat
• Sharp knife (used to quickly cut the line in case the floating bollards get stuck)
• At least 2 of the biggest fenders you have (a 6” diameter fender is not big)
• Trash-bags to protect your fenders from the slimy dock walls (keeps fenders free of dirt/slime. The trash-bags can be “peeled off” inside-out and discarded after use)
• VHF Radio (Fixed mount or hand-held)
• Boathook
• Comfortable Life Jackets for all aboard (each person must wear a life jacket during the lock through)
• Deck shoes (bare feet are too slippery to be safe when moving about quickly on deck surfaces)
• Enough fuel for the day
• Plenty of water or fluids (it will be hot and there is usually very little air movement in dock chambers)
